Routine Obstetric Care
When establishing OB care the initial visit focuses on obtaining a complete medical history and examination. It is also a time to answer all questions and review expectations for the pregnancy. During a routine pregnancy patients are seen every 4 weeks until they reach 7 months gestational age, then seen every 2 weeks until the last 4-5 weeks of pregnancy during which they are seen weekly. This schedule may be altered based on an individual’s history or complications that may arise. For patient convenience all labs are able to be drawn at the clinic or at an outpatient laboratory based on preference. Ultrasounds are commonly done during the first visit. A second ultrasound is routinely scheduled at 20 weeks. Occasionally additional imaging may be performed in the office or at Hillcrest outpatient imaging as indicated. Dr. Kessler is available at all hours through her answering service. She covers her own calls during the week and shares with 3 local physicians on weekends. She delivers at Hillcrest Hospital.
